FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Most questions are some version of “is this going to wreck my bookmarks?”, so those come first. If something is not covered here, the guides go deeper, or you can just email us.

Do I need to install anything?

No. You can export a bookmarks HTML file from your browser and upload it, and everything works. The extension is optional. It lets Bookmarks Pal read and edit your live bookmarks directly, so you skip the export and re-import step.

Does Bookmarks Pal delete my bookmarks immediately?

Only if you ask it to. Live mode applies each keep, delete and move to your browser the moment you make it. Staged mode queues every change and shows you the full list at the end of the session, so you can look before anything is applied. You pick the mode in the header and can switch at any time.

Are my bookmarks uploaded to your servers?

In guest mode, no. Everything stays in your browser's local storage and nothing is sent to us. If you create an account, your bookmark tree and session progress are synced so you can resume on another device. You can delete your account and its stored data at any time from the account dialog.

What happens when I reach the free limit?

Guests get 10 decisions and free accounts get 50 in total. When you reach the limit the app stops counting new actions and offers the paid plans; nothing you have already done is lost or reverted. The count is shared between the web app and the browser extension, so a save made from the toolbar draws on the same allowance.

Which browsers are supported?

The web app runs in any modern browser. The extension is available for Chrome today, with Edge and Firefox versions in progress. There is no Safari extension and none is planned for now, because Safari requires extensions to be shipped inside a signed native macOS app. On any browser without the extension, including Safari, the file-import route does everything the extension does apart from editing your bookmarks in place, because every browser exports the same bookmarks HTML format.

Can I undo a session?

Staged mode is the undo: nothing touches your browser until you apply the queued changes at the end, and you can drop any change before that point. In live mode a delete goes straight to your browser's bookmark store, so use staged mode if you want a safety net. In file mode your original export is never modified; you download a new, cleaned file.

What does Pro actually add?

Unlimited decisions, no ads, and early access to features still in development. The review modes, cloud sync and the extension are all available on the free tier. Pro lifts the cap rather than unlocking features.

Still stuck? Email bookmarks.pal+support@flowinc.studio, or use the feedback button inside the app, which reaches the same inbox and includes which page you were on.

Ready to see what is in there?

Start with the guest mode. No account, nothing uploaded, and you will know within a few minutes whether this is for you.
